MediaPress

MediaPress makes site images lighter: it compresses photos when they are uploaded to the panel, serves WebP and AVIF versions on pages when they exist, loads images below the first screen as the visitor scrolls and, if needed, serves them from a CDN.

What MediaPress Can Do

🧩

Compression on upload

JPEG quality and PNG compression level are set in the module settings, and a copy of the original can be kept if you wish. Photos can also be compressed by the WhiteCompress service, with no load on the site’s server. A log and a chart show how much space was saved.

🖼

WebP and AVIF

Photos from the “Media” section are saved straight to WebP by default. For JPEG and PNG images that have a WebP or AVIF version next to them, the module serves that version, and older browsers get the original file.

💤

Lazy loading

Off-screen images load as you scroll – the first page loads faster.

🌍

CDN

Image URLs can be switched to a CDN domain to take load off the site.

How to Connect MediaPress

1

Already included

MediaPress is included with WhitePage CMS and is installed together with the site — there is no need to install it separately. If the module has been removed, you can bring it back: “Platform → Modules” → “little-white.by catalog” → “Install”.

2

Enable and configure

Compression, formats, lazy loading and CDN are configured on the module page; photo sizes and saving to WebP are on the “Media” tab of the site settings.

3

Publish

Click “Publish changes” in the panel and the module goes live on the site.

FAQ — MediaPress

Do I need to convert images manually?

No. The panel saves photos uploaded to the “Media” section straight to WebP by default. Photos uploaded earlier can be processed again with the “Reprocess existing images” button on the “Media” tab of the site settings.

What will old browsers see?

Photos saved by the panel in WebP have no JPEG fallback — all modern browsers display them. For JPEG and PNG images with a ready WebP or AVIF version, older browsers get the original file.

Does the module create AVIF files?

Yes, together with the WhiteCompress service: on the “WhiteCompress” tab of the module page, turn on compression through the service and the “Create AVIF” option. The AVIF version is saved next to the photo if it is lighter than the original file. Without WhiteCompress, AVIF is served only if such a file already sits next to the image.
